Does anyone have and must see sights in Kotor?

I will be spending the day in Kotor as part of a cruise, any must see sights?

Hi Dennis. I did the same thing on a cruise in '09. My first recommendation would be to get up early enough to watch the ship enter the Bay--it was very beautiful and peaceful to watch the sun come up over the mountains as you glide slowly towards Kotor town. Once there, we enjoyed climbing the old walls around the city (great photo ops from up there) and just walking around the town. I would suggest walking towards the south end of the old town--not nearly as many tourists, and just fun to walk through the maze of old streets. We had a great, basic lunch at a cafe across the square from St. Tryphon's--I can still taste the prsut and fresh sour cream on that sandwich! Anyways, I guess this is a long way of saying that just wandering around the town was the best part for me--a great "feel" to the place, friendly people, good food, just a good place to wander.

If you have the energy/ability, try and climb to the fort that overlooks the town and bay. I did this quite a few years ago and would guesstimate that this may eat up about 3 hours of your time. It is a bit strenuous but the views are fabulous. On second thoughts this may not work if all you have is a day - works well if you are sleeping in town.

I also enjoyed going for a swim in the bay - just follow the locals.

I agree that the sail into and from Kotor is stunning- be on an upper deck for the panorama. Scads of photos were taken by almost everyone on the ship, it was so pretty ( was there in late September last year). We wandered the old town, saw the museum, sat and drank espresso in an outdoor cafe at the back of the town, bought some handcrafted linens. We also went to a neighboring town and saw their beaches and old town- nice, but not especially better, just different. Very nice day.
