We recently returned from a 2 week driving adventure thru Croatia/Slovenia. We stayed in Cavtat; just south of Dubrovnik. Instead of driving into Montenegro/Kotor, we decided we would hire a driver/guide for the day. It was a good decision and was cost effective. Our Guide was Kresimir (Chris) and his Cell # is +385976969550. He was great; very informative about history, culture, local cuisine, and a safe driver.
Thanks for the recommendation! Do you have an email address? Can you please tell me how long your day was and the cost of the driver/guide? Thanks again!
Thank you. My husband and I plan to fly to Dubrovnik end of May 2019, Is CAVTAT recommended? and pls explain why it was better to get a driver than take a rental to Kotor. Is Kotor or other areas of Montenegro worth exploring by car for more than a day trip? thinking to spend a few nights there??? any advice is appreciated we are from Massachusetts! kathleen
You could get rental to Kotor but you will be better off hiring a guide/driver. The area is simply beautiful and worth spending time exploring for few days. The coast of Adriatic Sea and the Bay of Kotor have something about them during summer. You will love it I am sure!
I love staying in Cavtat. It’s a small gorgeous village south of Dubrovnik, near the Dubrovnik airport. It has a beautiful harbor... we love sitting there at sunset with a glass of wine watching the yachts dock. Great restaurants. Totally walkable (though some hotels are a bit uphill). You can visit Dubrovnik via bus or boat but then come back to quiet Cavtat to enjoy a lovely evening.
