Zurich train to Lake Como

In August we are taking the train from Zurich to Italy, Lake Como, which I know is huge. Original plan was to stay in Como. I understand there is some rail construction in Italy this summer. Q1) Can we still take the train from Zurich without interruption to Lake Como? Q2) Is Como a good place to stay or will it be overrun in Aug with crowds and fellow tourist? Q3) If we opt for another location with nature, scenery, water activities and restaurants, where would others suggest? Thanks in advance!

Trains to Como City are direct and every 2 hours, and there are no planned disruptions on this route this summer.

Como is a big place, so the first question is: Where will you be staying,

From Zurich to Como San Giovanni the service will be pretty much normal this summer. It is on the Simplon route that we will have to suffer interruptions every summer till at least 2027.

However I think that a place on the Eastern shore would be better. Varenna is popular, but there are other places. And the most interesting way to get there is via the Bernina Railway.
