My family and I will be travelling by train from Zurich to Italy and back to Zurich for about one week in midFebruary. We would welcome suggestions for a reasonable itinerary,perhaps 2 days being our longest stay in one location. We are able to choose our sightseeing experiences but would appreciate any suggestions or must sees. We are just unsure how far south we will be able to get and what towns or places we must stop at. It will all be fabulous so we are least concerned with "cramming it all in". Thank you

Your question is so vague that it is difficult to provide any answer. Italy is country and Zurich is a city. Where do you want to go in Italy? And six days is very limiting. One route from Zurich could be through Milan. Do you want to stop in Switzerland on the way? You could do Florence and/or Rome or Venice - but Venice in winter can have problems. And you can not do more than about two cities. Really need a bit more information from you.

If your are looking for a day trip from Zurich you may enjoy Stein-am Rhein. It is about an hour by train from Zurich and is a cute town on the Rhine. There is an old farmhouse that is a museum in the center of the town-very charming.
