Zurich, Switzerland - 9 hour layover - suggestions on visiting Lindt factory and a lake tour

Hi,

I would appreciate any advice on possible touring options during a 9 hour international layover in Zurich airport on June 6 and am interested in visiting the Lindt factory by train and maybe a lake tour and lunch. Would all that be feasible if we leave our hand-carry bags at luggage storage? Thank you in advance.

The Lindt factory tour requires a reservation/ticket for a specific time, so you have to coordinate that with your expected arrival time to Zurich and how long you estimate to get through passport control, check your luggage and get a train to the factory (about 90 minutes round trip). A guided tour is 90 minutes at specific times although you can just get tickets and do your own tour. You might need to buy this soon because they do sell out daily.

Another option is just touring around Zurich. An exceptional city with many great shops, old town, restaurants, some museums, etc. If the weather is good a boat ride on the lake is nice as well.

Keep in mind your time needed to get on to your next flight and the requirements needed. Nine hours sounds like a lot of time, but air travel always takes up a lot of it deplaning and boarding again. Enjoy your brief stay in Switzerland.

Thank you so much for your replies! I will plan on a boat ride on the lake since Lindt factory tour tickets are sold out already for June 7.

Too bad you missed the Lindt tour, but you won't have a shortage of opportunities to buy some great chocolate bars at any local Migros or Coop grocery stores. Stock up for the rest of your trip. You'll be surprised at how inexpensive good chocolate is in Switzerland.
