Should be a long, direct bus. Check GetByBus and Rome2Rio. You could also take a train to Ljubljana and a shuttle (e.g. GoOpti) from there. Or take a bus to Trieste and a train from there to Venice.
By September, it should be possible to go completely by train from Zagreb to Venice through Trieste. But you will have to change trains in Ljubljana and Trieste, and I'm not sure yet what the schedules would be like to make it practical.
Check flights too on Google Flights, see if there are any direct flights.
