YVR to Palermo

I’m wondering if anyone has taken a tour starting in Palermo, flying in from Vancouver? Just curious what route/airlines other people might have found. So far haven’t had much luck but tour is in April so maybe still too early for multiple airlines to post their schedules. I do see Lufthansa/Air Canada but looking for options. Thanks.

Many flights to Palermo (PMO) are with low cost European airlines and/or seasonal summer flights which may not be operating in April.

The only traditional airline that has numerous flights to PMO is ITA Airways from Rome-Fiumicino (FCO).

Lufthansa also flies to PMO from both from Munich (MUC) and Frankfurt (FRA). The latter is also in code share with Air Canada. The Lufthansa flights are not frequent however. One or two daily only.

Coming from North America, if the above options don't work well for you, your best bet is to make it to Rome somehow (many options for Rome), spend the night, then the next day take any of the numerous flights, including with the low cost airlines. Then to return home you do the same, basically you take a flight to Rome the day before your flight to North America.

Lufthansa starts its YVR to Munich flight sometime in April so it might work for you as there seems to be 2 flights a day Munich to Palermo although frequency may be seasonal. British Airways has a flight from Heathrow but leaves early so you would be staying overnight at Heathrow. I would try to avoid connecting in Canada.

When we went to Sicily we flew Delta from Minneapolis. Our ticket took us all the way to Catania, but from Rome to Catania was a codeshare with ITA. I have no idea if Delta services Vancouver, but I know they have a lot of flights to and from Seattle.

We've been eyeing Sicily for next year. We'd plan on flying WestJet to Rome direct from Calgary and then a flight to Palermo on a separate ticket. We'd likely stay in Rome or nearby before and after so I'm not worried about it being on two different tickets. I'm also considering a flight to London and then EasyJet to Palermo.

Thank you to everyone for your replies.
I booked the Lufthansa flights via Munich.
It had the least number of connections (just 1) and the least length of time.
We fly home from Rome but Lufthansa still had the quickest/shortest flights I could find.
Now we just have to book a flight from Catania to Naples but I’m assuming no rush on that??

In 2017 we flew into Milan from Vancouver on BA. We were able to get tickets to the Last Supper (second try) and spent another night then flew to Catania on Easy Jet. Over jet lag, ate dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. Further travel was easy.
