My friend and I had planned to do a day trip to Venice on Friday, April 25 from Milan. We arrive in Milan the day before. We just found out that April 25 is a national holiday and wondering if this will affect train service in any way. Rick Steves mentions in Italy guidebook that it's not necessary to buy train tickets ahead of time but I've seen posts here recommending to buy online before traveling. Will buying fast train (which one?) in advance save us money?
Go to trenitalia.com and see what trains are available, and costs of tickets. You may still be able to save some money.
Thank you! Will sites, restaurants, shops be open Liberation Day? Would Lake Como be a good day trip on that day instead of Venice?
They run on a holiday (festivo) schedule, but they run. If you commit yourself to a specific day and time you can save by purchasing ahead. Discounted tickets, like economy and super economy, are non changeable and non refundable though.
Would Lake Como be a good day trip on that day instead of Venice?
Do you prefer apples or oranges? The two are absolutely completely different. What attracted you to the two locations?
Actually, Now doing a day trip to both Venice and another to Lake Como. I have purchased tickets to Venice via fast train.
What is fastest way to Lake Come for a day trip from Milan (no car).
Thank you
Also would like worth of mouth recommendations for places to eat, and or visit while on Lake Como. Is it possible to visit the nearby Lakes, like Bellagio, etc in one day?
