Hi Travelers! We just returned from Italy a few weeks ago. We used this forum to find our private guide in Pompeii - Gaetano Manfreddi. He organized a driver to pick us up from the Naples train station (we took the "bullet" train down from Rome) and made everthing incredibly easy for us to manage. After we met him at the entrance to the Pompeii Ruins he started on us a fascinating tour of Pompeii. Gaetano's enthusiasm for ancient Pompeii is a joy to experience. He really made the whole area come to life for us. My 78 year old step-mom felt that our Pompeii tour was one the highlights of our 8 days in Italy! I highly recommend Gaetano. EXCELLENT experience!

Pompeii and Herculeum
My wife and I had a wonderful tour guided by Gaetano. He is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and informative. We felt enriched by the experience as we gained a deeper understanding of the culture of the cities and of their destruction by Vesuvius. While I had the keen interest in Pompeii/Herculeum . my wife was just as pleased and enthralled by the insider look at the history we experienced.
The transportation, and all communications were flawless. Gaetano agreed to our last-minute request for a tour because I mentioned in my email inquiry that we heard of him through the Rick Steves book. It was definitely one of our favorite guided tours ever. I am impressed that with decades of guiding this tour his delivery was fresh and engaging. His enthusiasm and effort to inform and accommodate us was touching and greatly appreciated.
