Thank you for the suggestion of a light jacket. We will be in Rome, Vienna, Florence, Sienna Cinque Terra, Venice...area. Other ideas for a clothing packing list for us gals?

It'll generally be warm but in the north you could get some cooler weather still, especially at night. Down south less likely. I'd say just bring a light jacket/sweater just in case.

We spent 3 weeks in Italy, traveling from Venice to Cinque Terra, thru Tuscany to Rome, in October. As a 50+ lightpacker myself, here are a few things I learned. Two pair of shoes, one for all-day walking, a sport shoe, and one that is a little more dressy, but still can go a couple of miles. Insoles to replace those that come with your shoes. Made a huge difference ! Buy them at The Walking Company, but probably also other good walking shoe stores. In May you might also want sandals if you can fit them in. (Merrell makes a very lightweight one.) 3 pants, 5 tops are all you will wear. I brought a combo of blouses and knit tops, a vest for layering and a short rain jacket. Brought a khaki blazer I wore twice. Not worth carrying. I brought 2 black trouser jeans and one dressy pant. Could have left the dressy pant behind in favor of another pair of trouser denims. Denims wear easily for 2 days between washing. Smartwool socks are the best! Good for almost all weather. We wore them from 38 to 65 degrees. 3-4 pair. Purex laundry sheets. Cut some into small pieces to use for handwashing. No liquid factor so no impact on carry-on.Mineral make-up or no make-up. Mineral is terrific for travel because again, no liquid restriction issues. On the other hand, no make-up is even easier!

Hi Darlene,
I am will be in Italy the same time, I arrive the 28th in Venice. Looks like we have quite similar yet opposite itinerary's but from what I have researched seems 50's (night) to 70's or (10's to low 20's in C) is the norm.
