Woke up this morning and bought a ticket to Rome

Ciao fellow travelers! Delta/Alitalia has opened Covid-tested flights to all customers with numerous flights between NY, Atlanta, and starting in August, Boston to Rome, Milan, and Venice. The Italian gov't seems true to its word about re-opening effective May 15. Details on the Delta website. I'm so excited to be able to plan definitively. Any vaxxed Americans wanting to meet up in Roma, let me know!

Hi, Cynthia: good to hear from another hopelessly optimistic person. When are you going? We're still hoping for late September or October, but we're not quite ready to commit. But I'll be checking the flight schedules regularly...

Good for you ponygirl813. We did a similar thing, but to a different country, a week ago. Hoping it can happen in late summer. Now though, you’ve got a Beatles song running through my head...Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head...

Jane, I'm going on Aug 5 for two months. I'm hoping to retire there on an ER visa and have been waiting a year for this apartment-hunting trip. The ticket is changeable and if there is anything we have learned over the past year+, it's how to roll with the circumstances. Mona, thanks for putting the Beatles song in my head. You guys are my people.

Congratulations! I’m optimistically hoping to see the lavender fields in Provence late July. I have an eticket voucher waiting for me to make a final decision. If you have time would you send me a PM and let me know about your decision to move to Italy. I assume you speak Italian but one never knows. Good luck!

I booked our one-way tickets from Georgia to Rome in early October, on Delta.
We had booked our transatlantic cruise from Rome to FT. Lauderdale on 22 October 1 1/2 years ago and now it appears likely that the cruise will actually go. It appears that the EU will be open to VACCINATED Americans.

We are, so looking forward to 9 days in Umbria and a week in Rome prior to the cruise.

I was expecting and hoping this would come. I made a bet that my business class ticket direct rt from JKK to Milan would go up and it did. My ticket that I bought for $1849 is $2849 today. I have a significant number of miles on AA but this particular route business class cannot be booked with miles. Flight is in September so hoping that no Covid test is required and my vaccine documentation will be accepted instead, but I will go if a test is required.

Hi Ponygirl! where are you planning on retiring? We are also going to Italy on a house hunting trip but haven't decided where to put down roots. We've narrowed it down to three regions: The Lakes, Liguria, Toscana or Umbria. We are wide open to suggestions!
Happy trails ya'll!
