winter travel in Sicily

My husband, daughter, son in law and I are going to Sicily Dec 11-18. Do we need to be concerned about sights, museums, accomidations being closed for the winter? I am anticipating shorter hours. We are an active group and wouldn't mind getting in some good exercise while touring any suggestions?

Hi from another Cindy - we visited Sicily in December last year, and sights were open. Every church and town had presepi on display for upcoming Christmas. We mostly used the Lonely Planet Sicily guide for accommodations, which were all good, but some listings (as noted in the guide) weren't open in December, especially along the eastern coast. We phoned ahead & still found rooms everywhere we went & had a great time. Hope you do, too.
