Winter choice: Tuscany, Cinque Terra, Amalfi Coast or Sicily

We will be in Italy from Dec 23 to Jan 3 and I'm trying to plan our itinerary. There are 4 of us total and we're going to first spend 5-6 days in Rome. I'm considering what to do next. My wife and I have already been to Florence, Venice, Siena, Volterra, Cinque Terra a couple years ago. The others in our party haven't been to Italy before.

I'd like to have something a little more relaxing and not a big city after Rome. But I'm not sure if any of these are worth spending time in during winter. I loved the time we spent in Siena, Volterra and Vernazza. And I've also seen good things about Sicily and the Amalfi coast. I would like to go to Pompeii so maybe working our way south would be a good option too. We want to relax and eat great food and wine. What would you do?

If by Tuscany you include the cities--Siena and Florence--I say YES! Magical and alive around the holidays. Sorrento might be nice, too, if heading south, but I think Cinque Terre, up north, wouldn't be so great, then. If Florence and Siena don't do it for you, perhaps Naples, Pompeii and Sorrento would be nice?

I'd take the CT off your list. CT will be pretty much closed down late Dec / early Jan; you've got other choices, why push it with a place that's an outdoor place that time of year, when you don't have to.
