Winery tours from Florence

We are wanting to do a winery tour while in Florence. What recommendations would you have? What is the best way to get to the winery? (train? walk? Uber?)

Thank you very much!

The best way to do a winery tour is with a guided tour- you normally can't just show up at a winery without appointment.
Or with a rental car- with a designated driver. Most are out in the country with no train service.

If you search this forum you will find many recommendations.

No Uber in Italy

Visiting in Italy is more formal than in the US. All wineries will require a reservation and a fee. You would need a car for the better wineries. I would hit the TI in Florence, just off the square, and pick a local tour. Lot of choices. We spent five days visiting two or three per day.

We are definitely expecting to make a reservation. I was looking for suggestions of names of specific ones in the Florence area to tour, and then how I could get to it.

Thank you for any further suggestions.

Our trip is in August, which is why I am looking now for recommendations to wineries. I assumed a reservation should be made this far ahead of time. Is that correct, or from the responses above, is a reservation just typically made a day or two prior to wanting the tour?

Thank you!

We have visited a few wineries by making reservations by contacting the wineries directly. In Tuscany we visited Antinori by reservation...no charge. BUT usually we do a tour...sometimes a using a private driver and ask them to select the wineries, we have used ToursbyRoberto, and we've done bike tours to wineries.
