I'm looking for suggestions of wineries to visit for tasting and to learn about the wines in the region. In general, we like smaller, family owned wineries. We aren't necessarily looking for the "best" wine, just a nice place to visit. If there is a larger winery with some special quality, like an exceptional tour or beautiful view, we may be interested.
We will be visiting in January, and I will also be contacted our hotels for suggestions.

Cantine Polvanera in Goia del Colle (western Puglia, close to Basilicata) has excellent wines and does a great tour and tasting. I was just there in September (Have been there twice now and each time it was great). Masseria Li Veli in Cellino San Marco also does a great tour and tasting. It is located closer to the east coast of Puglia south of Brindisi.
