My husband and I, with another couple, will be staying in Orvieto for a few nights in October. We are looking for suggestions for nearby winery tours. We will most likely pick up a car in Orvieto, so could travel to winery by car. Has anyone visited any wineries in that area?

Check out Tenuta Le Velette which is very close to Orvieto. It's owned by the family of one of the Rick Steves tour guides, Cecilia Bottai.

We found that most wineries require an advance reservation and a fee to tour. You cannot count on driving up to a winery and walking in.
