wineries near Lucca

We were in Lucca in September and the city had a whole "local wine makers" tasting and display out in Piazza San Michele so there are a lot of wine (and olive oil) producers but it is not such a big draw as it is in southern Tuscany.

Paola Moschini is an amazing, energetic Lucca tour guide and I while can't recommend her enough I don't believe she does any kind of transportation trips. But you could reach out to her and if she recommends someone I would trust her completely.

Before I knew Paola I took a walking tour with this local company and the guide was very knowledgable. They arrange driving tours either Lucca or meeting cruise ships in Livorno. I can't specifically recommend their driving/transport tours but they have been around for years and might be worth looking into.

The wine bar Enoteca Vanni in Piazza San Salvatore (aka Piazza Pupporona) is an excellent stop. The cellar of the wine store next door is mind blowing if you can get an invitation to explore it.

small family owned farm/winery in the hills outside lucca. they offer their wines and food tasting of their products looking out to the gorgeous land.
take the bus from lucca station to farm or hire a taxi. ask your host/hostess of hotel about transportation.
we had planned to go and enjoy but had to cancel trip due to medical issues but saved in my bookmarks for next trip. hope this gives you something to look forward to and being so close to lucca. enjoy your time

As mentioned above, every day and night we were there in the Fall, there were 60+ winemakers and maybe 15 olive oils represented at the the SW corner of Piazza San Michele. The building is Palazzo Pretorio. I assume they do this every year but maybe check with the Lucca tourist board. You buy a card for ≈€15 and taste what you want. It's a good deal and a fantastic way to taste a lot of good and excellent local wines. Taste there, and if you find some that match your palate, then see if you can organize a more in-depth tasting at their property. If they're not knee deep in the crush, they should be happy to assist you in arranging transport.

He helped me find a driver to take me and my family around, we visited a bird sanctuary / nature preserve close to Lucca which was honestly an unexpected find in Tuscany and then we did a wine and cheese tasting at Tenuta Mariani (https://maps.app.goo.gl/wSCTEzYGL5T16inm8).

They had many particular types of wine, all locally produced.

If you would like to do it somewhere in nature I'd recommend reach out to Stefano, he is a local hiking guide, and he helped us come up with many options to chose from and guided us for a walk in nature before/after the tasting.

Note: he didn't book things for us, but helped us find who to book for the outing! I can recommend him highly!
