We are planning to rent a car in Florence and drive to Assisi. Since we are not in a hurry, can anyone advise of a great place to stop on the way for wine tasting, et al?? thanks

Karen, One possibility would be This Winery located near Orvieto (it's mentioned in the Guidebook). I believe tastings are "By Appointment Only", and the contact details are on the website. Happy travels!

thanks. Will check it out...also heard about Chiorri (but they seem big) or Goretti (seems like a nice, small place that also serves light lunch for which you must make reservations) If anyone has been to these, please, let me know..If we're lucky, we'd have time for more than 1!
