My husband and I are renting a car for three days while staying in Tuscany (just outside Sienna) and would like to visit some wineries.
Can anyone make good recommendations?
Do we need to make reservations?
Grazie!

Just drive and stop at places that look interesting. You should not need reservations but check with locals or your hotel. Have fun!!
The Montalcino TI can give you a list of more than 150 regional wineries. For more info and websites, see Rick's chapter Tuscan Hill Towns in his book Florence & Tuscany. Here's a link to a prior discussion of this subject on the Helpline:click1
There are a number that welcome guests, but more frequently there are wine shops in the smaller towns that offer samples from the neighboring wineries. A drive from Siena north on route 222 will take you by many. Montalcino has many in-town tasting rooms.
We have signed up for a day trip via train from Siena, only on Saturdays...http://www.winestation.it
I found it in a British magazine...check the website to see if it works for you.
