We will be visiting Tuscany in September and will be driving from Florence to our villa 10 min outside of Chiusi. We wanted to stop in Castellina and visit a winery before going to the villa. If you had to pick one, which would be your favorite?

Billie I would pick Castellare di Castellina. The estate has beautiful grounds to explore an its vineyard is near a roman amphiteater.

It is not right in the town you named, but some visitors would like the massive, ultramodern, high-end Antinori world-domination (!) winery nearby. We were not that happy with it. Note that in general, you have to make an appointment for full-size wineries. We chose to have a white-tablecloth lunch at some (I mean, that had restaurants too), and then just have a snack at our hotel bar for dinner that night. Those lunches had to be paid for in advance. Antinori has both an informal and a formal restaurant.
