When in Firenze want to take day trips and especially wine dinner or luncheon at a winery or? Any suggestions.
If you want to drive to Orvieto from Florence, there is a nice Agriturismo called Altarocca Wine Resort. Their website is www.altaroccawineresort.com/en/.
Orvieto is about 165 miles from Florence and takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes to get there. Orvieto is definitely worth seeing if you want to take a little drive. We stayed at the Wine Resort on our Rick Steves Tour. They have a great lunch and dinner menu that you can view on their website.
Last summer had a fabulous day, visited several wineries - had lunch under the arbor at a country restaurant that also produces their own wine - with Walkabout Florence. Wonderful guide, fabulous day on tour called "Chianti Wine and Food Safari." Three years ago had a great day with Roberto of toursbyroberto (a good buddy of RS, and films with him). Roberto has multiple itineraries, including a couple focused on vineyards and wine. If you are the first to sign up for a day, you choose the itinerary. If an itinerary is already decided for the day, you can join if there is room. It's all on his website.
