Looking to do a small group wine tour when we are in Florence. Will be there in April and looking for recommendations.
Hi Deb. I will also be in Florence in April and just signed up for the Val d’Orcia small group tour through Key of Italy. The company has been very responsive to my emails and the dates seem to be filling up for April already, especially for solo travelers. It goes to Montepulciano and Montalcino (as well as Pienza) which are the areas I’m most interested in visiting. There are many companies/tours from Florence that focus on Chianti wines but the Val d’Orcio tour goes further afield and focuses on the wines I love best haha.
Thanks Cindy, I will check them out.
We did a day tour wine tasting in October with Fabrizio at Ciao Fabry Tours. We were staying outside Montalcino, he picked us up at our accommodations and drove us around for the day, visiting 2 Brunello wineries and a sheep farm for lunch. He does all kinds of day tours for wine tasting, city sites, and even cooking classes, and picks up across a ride range of locations including Florence and throughout much of Tuscany. I would not hesitate to book him for one or more days. His English is great, he has fantastic local knowledge and connections, reasonable prices for what all we did, and he was incredibly fun. He's more than willing to customize itineraries to what you are looking for.

We've done two tours into the countryside from Florence with Grape Tours and highly recommend both. I believe it's the "super Chianti" tour that includes lunch at the crazy butcher's shop which was definitely a highlight for us!
Thanks for the replies. Someone else had recommended Grape Tours to me as well. So many wines, so hard to choose. Though am thinking of staying in the Chianti area as I plan to do a separate adventure in a few years to the Montepulciano and Montalcino areas .
