Most seem to run from Siena. We were very happy with our day tour to a small family run vineyard in Chianti with- http://www.slow-days.com The tour goes to Montefioralle, Greve-in-chianti and Panzano. In the morning we visited the vineyard in Montefioralle for wine tasting and a tour, then castello di Verrazzano in the afternoon. I would highly recommend it.

Castello de Verrazzano gives you a sort of "do it yourself". You get a small tour and then lunch with wine tasting. We only payed for eating there and transportation (rental car). We met other couples and they got there by bus.

Dan, I haven't done this tour yet, as I am not going for a few months, but I have booked it. I feel very confident that it will be a great tour based on the reviews posted on Tripadvisor. I've also emailed previous clients, who confirmed that the tour was excellent. I hope it hold true for me. The tour is the "Best of Tuscany Tour" from Artviva.com , in a small group, which has a wine cellar visit, wine tasting, lunch and visit to three hilltop towns. It is a long day trip, and the visits are brief considering how much you are covering in one day, but it was ideal for me because my time in Florence is short, unfortunately, and it gives me the highlights in one day. The focus is not just on wine, so if you are looking for something focused solely on wine for the day, this tour may not be what you want. http://www.italy.artviva.com/index.php?file=oneprodotti&form_id_prodotti=13&id=13&tstamp=1317765600
