My friend and I are looking for a great wine tour from Siena. We are staying at Hotel Chiusarelli, 15, 53100 Siena SI, Italy, and would like to either be picked up from our hotel or be able to get to easily get to the start of the tour. We are looking for a full day tour with wine and food. We would also be interested in seeing some other sights! July 12th is when we are planning the tour.
Thanks for your help in advance!
Contact Tours by Roberto. A Rick Steves' pick and a wonderful experience!
I second Laurel's recommendation! Roberto only takes small groups--his van fits 8--and he is very informative and entertaining. If you go to his website, www.toursbyRoberto.com, you will find an American phone number and his calendar. They are very helpful. On July 12 he has room in his Val D'Orcia tour from Siena. He takes you to places you would not see on your own. We did the Clay Hills (Crete Senesi) tour and had a great time. It's an area south of Siena. We went to a village of only 18 residents, and he explained the historical significance of the area, then went to a winery/farm where they make Brunello did Montalcino wine, and had a delicious, home grown meal and wine tasting. Our destination for the afternoon was the monastery of Mt. Olivet which was amazing. Roberto is from the Siena area and knows it intimately. He also does tours of Chianti.
I second the recommendation of Roberto. He is excellent. Fun and easy to understand and a true expert of the area. www.toursbyroberto.com Another fun activity if you like wine in Sienna is to do a wine/food class. www.tuscanwineschool.com
Can't say enough good things about Roberto. I surprised my wife with a tour of the Clay Hills during our Honeymoon and it was unforgettable.
Roberto is all booked for our dates :(. Does anyone have a good second pick?
We went with Sergio - very personable, affordable. Really enjoyed the day and highly recommend him.

We did one with Grape Tours out of Florence and had a great experience. I believe they have tours from Siena as well. www.tuscan-wine-tours.com
