Wine Tour - From Florence or Assisi

We are doing the Italy My Way Tour in June 2020. We would like to do a Wine/Food Tour in the countryside while we are there. Tuscany would be an obvious choice but based on the amount of time available in Florence and Assisi - both for reasons of accessibility and the number of other things to see and do... would you recommend a tour from Florence or is this perhaps something we could do from Assisi... I am not sure why but I am assuming that Assisi has less to see than Florence?

Arg. You only have 1.5 days at each: not very much. :O(

It'll depend on your interests but given the amount of Renaissance treasures to be seen in Florence, I personally wouldn't cut that one short to spend a chunk of a day elsewhere.

There are multiple half-day wine tours from Florence. I think that would be your best bet, as it would still allow you time to see sights in Florence. Wine tours from Florence have been discussed a lot on this forum, so use the Search box at the top of the page to research the topic. Assisi is better left to relaxing.

Just got back from Italy including three nights in Florence. We took a CiaoFlorence.com wine tasting tour that was 2:30 to 8:15 in duration. Visited a Chainti winery/vinyard (Lamonde) and another winery tasting room and processing facility (Santa Margharita), then had about 50 minutes in the nearby town of Greve to walk around, drink, eat, and/or shop. This tour was relatively low cost and included a full bus of 45-50 people; it was an adequate break from the city for the afternoon and early evening. There are many other tours from Florence longer in duration and with smaller size groups, depending on your budget and time constraints.

Thank you for the insight. I have been to Florence before albeit briefly. I did see the Ponte Vecchio, Duomo and Pisa etc. I stayed in a Villa in Tuscany and loved it. I guess my concern is that my gut tells me that Tuscany is the best place to do a wine tour. But I really don't know much about Assissi and what there is to do there so I thought that we may have more expendable time is Assissi and be more willing to give up time there. Will do more research.
