Wine tasting Tuscany

How easy is it to drive and wine taste at wineries in Tuscany? How accessible are they? I see there are quite a few wine tours and they seem very expensive. We are use to wine tasting in California and Oregon and of course the wineries are very accessible. Do we need to make reservations?

Thanks

It is pretty darn easy if you go to the towns, Montipulciano and Montelcino. Park somewhere and find an outlet.

This last April I was on my first trip to Italy and fell in love with this great country. I did a winery tour with a luncheon I had to reserve it ahead of time. It had been recommended by a friend and certainly she was right. The best wine, the best food and the scenery out of this world. I did see some people just sitting on a terrace sipping on different wines with small food like cheese and meats. I am enclosing the link To me its not expensive and so worth every penny. I am going back in August and booked another tour with them that's how much I loved it. Happy Travels https://www.avignonesi.it/en

It's a similar experience except you are in Italy and everything is several hundred years old compared to the 30 year old wineries we have here. Drivers are more aggressive but no big deal compared to L.A. and a GPS makes it easy. You can visit wineries, a reservation is a good idea to avoid disappointment, or go to any of the hill towns. There is so much more to see and do that I don't know if I would plan for only tasting in a day. Our next trip we will have at least two bases during our week stay to experience the towns at night after the day trippers leave.
