Wine Tasting in Tuscany

Hello,

My wife and I are staying in Florence for 6 days in August and we wanted to go wine tasting while also trying to get some of the best views in that region. We will not have a car, but my question is, do you think it is better to pay for an actual wine tasting tour or could we just try to catch a bus or rent a car and explore the region ourselves? If you think a tour is the best idea, which tour and region do you recommend?

Thanks for any help!

You could take a bus to Greve in chianti and visit Verrazzano.

Great food and wine but it's best to make a reservation.
To reach the winery, you'd need to take a taxi after the bus. There are several tasting locations in town and a wine festival in September.

For tours, this site offers several. If you have a chance, visit Antinori, along with the wine, the site is amazing. Not what you would expect for Tuscany.

The tour to the Val d'Orcia would give you a good comparison between Chianti and southern Tuscany.
