wine day trips from Florence?

Has anyone enjoyed a special wine tasting day trip from Florence? we have one extra day and would love to see some of the surrounding towns/wineries. should we bus or drive? (prob not drive if we are doing wine tastings but my husband would love to drive the countryside) ideas? Going end of October, staying in Florence.

One of my favorites!! Worth renting a car! may be able to use bus, it's just outside
of Greve.

If you are near Montepulciano, try this one...Great Rosso and Nobile

Informative good wine selection.

Have not done this one yet...price point is intriguing.

I did their Chianti Classico tour last fall and it was one of my favorite days in my 17 day trip. It is a small tour with no more than 8 people plus the driver/guide. We visited two small wineries and had lengthy tastings with lots of wine, cheese, bread, etc. We also had a great lunch In Panzano at the restaurant of Dario Checcini and visited his butcher shop for more wine and appetizers. It was a great day with lots of great scenery and education about wine - not to mention - lots of great tasting wine!

they come highly recommended. we just got back from our italy adventure and we did 2 tours from them (cooking class and a wine one). both were exceptional!! you meet at their office which was a short walk from the B&B we stayed at (by the duomo).
