In the most recent Florence and Tuscany RS guidebook, it mentions that at the De'Ricci Cantine in Montepulciano, the first three tastings are free, and two additional tastes are 5 Euros. However, on the De'Ricci website, the only option listed is to tour the cellar for 30 Euros, which must be reserved. Does anyone know if it is still possible to have a more informal, impromptu visit to De'Ricci, like it is described in the guidebook?
Hi Frank.
We booked a De’Ricci cellar tour with tasting for April 2025. I don’t remember seeing anything describing what you read in the RS book so went back to the De’Ricci website for another look. I don’t see what you’ve described but I do see a comment on the Experiences page under ‘Visit the Cathedral’ about guided tours of the cellar with small tasting of 3 to 6 wines for €20/30 per person. So it doesn’t seem there are any free tastings but perhaps 3 tastings with the cellar tour is €20 and 6 is €30.
On the bottom of that same page there’s a Contact Us form which could be useful for your question.
Peter - Thank you for your response! I think that I will do the same and book the tour. Enjoy your upcoming trip to Tuscany!
