I thought it would be nice to take the Grand Canal to our hotel once we arrive in Venice. The Vaporetto Pass includes buses but can anyone tell me if any of those buses will get us from the Airport to the "beginning" of the Grand Canal. Our hotel is by St. Marks Basilica.

Yes, the bus will take you to Piazzale Roma where you can catch vaporertto #1 or 2 to Pza San Marco, however; the pass won't get you to or from the airport without a supplement or a separate 8 euro ticket

The bus from the airport will drop you at Piazzale Roma. There is a vaporetto stop there, so yes, you can get from there to the San Marco stop. As previously mentioned, you will have to buy the pass with the supplement.

Just to be clear, if you paid the 6 EUR adder for a 1-way bus from the airport, or 12 EUR for a round trip bus to/from the airport on your vaporetto pass, then yes, it will drop you at Piazzale Roma where you can get the No 1 vaporetto.
