It's probably not very secure at a busy and heavily touristed airport like FCO which would be a good spot for the criminal element to set up shop trying to troll for open Wi-Fi connections and steal data.

No free wifi in the terminal areas, but you can get a signal through various "pay" services - like most airports are doing now.
