Who’s going???

Just curious of your travel plans. Is anyone planning on going this year when the allow tourism again. We’re scheduled to go the end of Sept/Beginning of October. Going to Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome, Pompeii, Positano and Capri. Than flying out of Naples to France to visit Paris and Normandy. We just aren’t sure if we should postpone another year and go in 2022. I will say if everything is open and you can travel by train between zones without restrictions, we may go for it. We don’t care if we have to wear masks and we are both vaccinated. Just curious what everyone is thinking.

Hi,

I am fully vaccinated and have an invitation to visit a friend that is renting a villa/agraturisimo in Tuscany from July 1 - July 14th. I'd love to visit for a week, then head to Lyon, France to visit a friend and from there spend a few days in Paris before flying home. I've researched flights, both open jaw and simply round trip to Florence (and skipping France altogether). I HOPE to make a final decision and book a flight by June 4th.

As an FYI: the prices I've found have been very high. Last year I trained to hike the Camino Frances but due to Covid the plans were cancelled. I got a one way flight from Boston to Paris, and a return flight eight weeks later from Madrid for $500 total. Last week, the best price I found for round trip to Florence was approximately 1,300.00.

Yes we're going to Italy this year. We do have the covid tested flight leaving out of Charlotte. Our flight is open jaw into Venice and out of Rome. Leaving on Sept 19 and returning Oct 19. We have been vaccinated but still have to take a PCR test 48 hrs before the Flight, then take a ripid antigen test at the airport and then test again on arrival. We will not have to quarantine becasuse we're on the covid tested flight. Who knows what will change by Sept as far as masks. will be traveling by train going from Venice, Bolzano, Lake Garda, Florence, Siena, Orvieto than flying out of Rome. I'm expecting everything will be fine.

We are going to Croatia from the end of august till beginning of October. I want to add either a train trip to Verona/Florence/Bologna/Padua or stop in Paris on the way home. Still waiting to book airline tickets because we are waiting for my husband to be called back to work so he can retire. Keeping our fingers crossed for a July callback. Also, hoping numbers keep going down, and more opens up,
and restrictions ease up a bit. I know, I lot to hope for.

We have rescheduled a trip to Sorrento and Tuscany (Siena) three times since last May. It is currently scheduled for August 22 thru September 8 and it looks like we will finally be able to go. Now, I am just waiting to see if I need to change our flights. Currently, we are scheduled to fly out of Philadelphia on a non-covid tested flight. I've been reading that Italy may open to vaccinated Americans so I am waiting until July to see if this happens before changing flights. If they do not, I will change to a covid tested one and fly out of JFK. Fortunately, American Airlines loosened their flight change/cancellation policy so I will be able to change flights without penalty.

I was planning a trip in Jan 2020 and then the pandemic hit. Researching my itinerary again and prices are doubled and tripled for airfare and my favorite carrier to Europe Norwegian Airlines no longer flies out of the USA sadly- They had amazing deals one way to Madrid $149 or one way to London for $189 ..Rome $149 ... we will not see those fares again Im sure ..I am thinking of just doing some travel in the USA and doing Europe and Italy in 2022 - unless I can find a great refundable rate to Rome or MXP.

Still in the planning process of air Chicago/Zurich, then train to Lucerne, Varenna, Florence & Rome over 18 days, air Rome Fiumicino/Chicago. Thinking departure late April 2022. Have priced out open jaw total as low as $768/pp. If that price is there in August (and EU conditions are such that we should fire away), I'd consider that a good deal & grab it. Will secure trip insurance regardless.

I'm going in October - and can not wait. Booked one of the Covid tested delta flights & am happy to test 3 times, wear a mask, and cram in all of the pasta I've missed for the last few years. I have friends who work in tourism there who have cried listening to the suitcases on the cobblestone again because it's been so missed. Of course hoping that it doesn't shut down again before October, but after canceling 3 other international trips over the last year, at least I know to roll with the punches now.

Better news yet. For travel July 1 and beyond on the covid tested Delta flights, only one PCR or antigen test will be required 48 hrs before leaving and a rapid test on arrival. Mask restrictions may be lighten also.

Have trip reserved - not RS, for this September, Ireland - Scotland. For an additional fee of $75, I can cancel up to departure time and get a voucher for any of their tours for one year. They also booked my flights so that cost is allowed also. I believe there will be unknown restrictions -- at this point -- oh well. I have two trips with RS reserved for 2022. Their generous full refund cancellation policy is good 'til December the 31st, this year. Waiting to me means the likelihood of bigger crowds, higher costs, fewer choices. Time will tell.

Had lots of flight credits from 2020 cancelled trips so we have booked non-stop from Newark to Milan, home from Rome in late September for an amazing price we couldn't pass up. Can reschedule as needed.
We intend to go if allowed and have no problem with testing, masking etc. Fully vaccinated.
We've been to most of the places we intend to visit so even if museums and such are appointment only, etc we can skip, no problem, We just want to be in Italy and enjoy ourselves!

Does anyone know if you fly to Italy from the US. And than want to fly to France from Italy for the 2nd part of the trip. Is the COVID testing still going to be a requirement for the Fall of 2021? And are you able to do that?
