Nobody cares how tourists dress. Knees and shoulders must be covered to enter any Church.

Like anywhere else, dress how you want. Nobody cares what you wear. Really, nobody. This is true everywhere.*

(*Only exceptions are the well-known caveats about churches and other holy sites, where "modest" dress is the rule.)

So dress however you want. Most folks here suggest you dress for practical reasons (comfort, sun protection, good walking shoes for long days, etc.) but if you want to wear something that is impractical but makes you happy, that's your choice. Honestly, nobody else will care at all (or notice). Remember that you will be surrounded by a sea of other tourists, and they will be dressed exactly like the people you might see at your local Walmart.

I'd suggest you cross this off your list of things to worry about.

In Paris last year white sneakers were all the rage on Parisian women. (Who would have thought!)
Wear what is most comfortable, but I think that white might look pretty dirty pretty quickly if that matters to you.
My color pallet these days is black and gray with a bit of pink for color. I'll be looking for a pink sun hat in the next few months.
I love scarves and they weigh nothing so are easy to pack and acquire along the way.
Have a wonderful trip -- I love Italy and Greece.

White athletic shoes or trainers have been not only acceptable but stylish for years in Italy. Now they are “hot” in the US this year as well.

I wear darker sneakers, navy or black, as white shoes get so dirty in cities . No one will care but you. Wear what you are comfortable in.

Agree with all the posters- doesn’t really matter.
That being said we saw a lot of white leather shoes in Italy and Paris last May as others have stated so you may be on trend!!
When are you going? I’m assuming spring or summer. Nights may be cool-you could do a pop of color in a cardigan or jacket.
Otherwise jewelry or scarf would be a good way. Or don’t take one and buy a scarf (or extra bag) at a market as the mood strikes! My daughter just went to a Rome and for some reason fell in love with a scarf she HAD to have. (I say that because she NEVER wears scarves here!)

The only thing to consider with white shoes (and sandals for that matter) is that streets in cities get pretty grimy with a variety of soils (dirt, animal, trash) especially if it rains. Packing some shoe wipes or something to brighten them might be prudent.
