I don't remember the differences in the passes but I do know that the pass that covers your time in Venice is well worth it! Hop on, hop off or just go for a ride. After dark, take the line that circles Venice. Early in the morning ride up or down the Grand Canal and walk the opposite direction. Ride to the Lido and take the next boat back - the views are that great of Venice. Venice is like walking into history - just get on the boat and be a Venetian, not a tourist! Have a wonderful trip - I spend a week in Venice each year and never tire of it.

Thanks Robert -
was really trying to decide between the 72hr and 7 day pass...I've heard from Celeste (who is there now) and the 72hr pass sounds like it'll work for us. We'll just pay for the ride back to the train station once our pass runs out...

We were in Venice for 5 nights, arriving in the late aftgernoon. We got a 36 hr pass and it worked fine for us. We used it for our first 36 hrs there using it for the bus from the airport and the vaporetto to our hotel and for a night tour of the Grand Canal. The next day we went out to Burano and Murano, San Giorgio Maggiori (sp?) and a day tour of the Canal. After that we were able to walk every where we wanted to go and just bought tickets to get back.

I was reading some of the posts here. I will be traveling with my two nieces in June and they are 16 & 18 yrs old. Do they get a discount on these passes?

We will be going but for only 2 days. How many trips would it take to be worth the pass? We already have transportation from the airport.

Steve asked We will be going but for only 2 days. How many trips would it take to be worth the pass? We already have transportation from the airport. Each individual ride without a pass is 6.50. A 72 hour pass is €33.00. Simple arithmetic is divide 33 / 6.50 = 5.07. So, if you use 5 trips you're even, 6 the pass is cheaper. That's over the whole 72 hours, s 2 each day. If you get your pass from Venice Connected at a discount you will be ahead in 5 trips. 48 hours is €28. So 28/6.5 = 4.3, 5 is ahead and just over 4 is a break even. Buying online 4 is ahead.

Get the 7day pass....it will pay for itself. I love to go back and forth on the grand canal....each ride is 6.5E for one hour so it adds up fast. You can spend a day going to the islands, hop on an off to your heart's content. you could do the 3 day and a 12 hour, but it ends up the same as 7 days, and if you have any photographers in the group, early morning and dusk on the canals is not to be missed. 3day is 33E, 12 hr. is 16E. I like cruising
the canals for light and buildings to photograph.
