Which travel dates are better? (Rome & Milan)

Hey everyone!

I'm traveling with my family for our first time to Italy. We're planning to visit Rome & Milan in the winter to avoid crowds as much as possible.

We are thinking of these 2 travel dates, can you please let me know which is better? (in terms of fewer crowds, better expericence, etc).

Dec 21 - Dec 31

OR

Dec 28 - Jan 6

It would depend on how you split your days and if the museums/monuments are open those days.
It would also depend on the age of any children and how you want to celebrate Christmas with them.

I’d go when the hotel rates were cheapest.
