Which town to stay in Cinque Terre

My husband and I will be traveling through Italy in a few weeks and have one night to spend in the Cinque Terre. We will be coming from Florence on our way to Milan. With only two days (really one and a half with travel time) and one night where would be the best town to stay and give us time to see a bit of each village? Thanks!

At this late date, the best answer is "whichever town you can find a room in". The C.T. is very popular at this time of year, and some hotels are fully booked six months in advance. I'd suggest looking in Monterosso first, as it's the largest of the five and therefore has the greatest number of hotels and other accommodations. You could also try looking in Levanto, which is about five minutes north of Monterosso.

The RS Italy guidebook has accommodations listed for all the towns. If you need some ideas on hotels, post another note here and the group can offer suggestions.

Unfortunately, you may not find accommodations this late, since the CT are a popular destination, especially in the summer months.

You may consider staying in Monterosso, the largest of the five villages, thus the one with more accommodations & amenities.

You may consider staying in Levanto, a short 5 minute train ride from the CT.

You may visit all the villages in the CT via train or ferry.

You may find this website helpful.

Enjoy!

See a bit of each town? With one night, do not even try. Getting from village to village involves hiking, or a very crowded train, or a boat that may be just as crowded. Pick the village that appeals to you and explore from there.
