My two adult daughters, their husbands, four children ages between 5 and 7, and I plan to rent a villa on the Amalfi coast. We want to be within walking distance of the beach and restaurants. We don't want to rent a car. I've been to Positano and it seems a bit too touristy. What about Praiano or other suggestions? Thanks.

we are in amalfi (town) at the moment, we spent a day in positano, extremely busy. we just spent 5 days in sorento ( our second trip there) it is a great base, but busy ( compared to our last visit 3 years ago, same time of year) blame the cruise ships ??
we are enjoying amalfi, have swam and walked etc. the prices are a bit more expensive ( like positano) but easier to visit nearby places, like ravello ( just got back from there a hour ago) well worth a visit.
amalfi seems to have better connections by bus and ferry.

Several of my friends who live in Italy prefer to stay in Praiano or Minori. The.beaches are rocky (as are most,/all? beaches along the Amalfi) but the towns aren't as touristy. i've stayed in Mirori and you can walk to restaurants and the water. Of course most villas are probably on the hills
