We are flying direct from FCO to ATL on Friday, July 28, 2017.
Flight: Delta 63 departs at 09:45
Questions: At which terminal should we have our taxi drop us? Delta website says that check-in is at Terminal 1, but FCO says that we fly out of Terminal 5.
Also, how early should we arrive(and how much time will it take on a Friday morning for a taxi/driver to get to FCO from Colosseum area)?

Flew FCO-ATL on Delta in February. I checked in at Terminal 1. After you enter the terminal, turn right, and walk as far as you can--you'll see the designated area in front of you. If you haven't looked at it already, here's a map from Delta's website that shows where to check in. Also, you will need your boarding pass or some proof that you are on a Delta flight to enter their designated area, as you can't even get to their counters without it.
I would go with Terminal 1. The problems is that there has been some rearrangements at FCO. Terminal 5 has never been a arrival/departure type of Terminal. It was simply a process terminal for flights back to the US. You went through check in, immigration control, and security and then were bused behind security to your departure Terminal. It is my understanding that Terminal 5 is currently closed and being remodeled.
Given the uncertainty of everything I would arrive by 7, 7.15 so you have plenty of time. At time in the AM the taxi should be no more than 45 min. I personally would plan on leaving your hotel at 6. If you extra time enjoy an espresso and an Italian pastry as your last taste of Italy.
Oh, thanks so much. We are on the same flight a few weeks later on a Sunday morning. Not sure how I am going to get a boarding pass, though, one in Rome unless I can download something on my phone...
