Which side to stay in Florence

We will have 4.5 days in Florence this coming January.

I'm trying to decide between Palazzo Guadagni on the other side of the river, overlooking Santo Spirito Square and Palazzo di Camugliano very close to the center. Both look very lovely and I'm not sure how to choose.

I'm wondering if anybody has stayed at either place and has any thoughts on their stay.

Thank you.

I’ve never stayed at either, but looking at where they are located, I would choose Palazzo Guadagni. Piazza Santo Spirito can be busy and a bit noisy-maybe not so much in January-but that adds to the ambiance rather than just being on a busy street in the vicinity of Santa Maria Novella.
The Oltrarno is a nice break from the crowds in Florence proper and has many great restaurants and sites of its' own. Besides, being just around the corner from Gelateria Artigianale la Sorbettiera is a bonus!

I haven’t stayed in either (either), but agree that the Palazzo Guadagni is in a wonderful location - all those gardens around, the Cappella Brancacci, etc.

We stayed by Santo Spirito in December, prior to Christmas. We thought it would be a great place to stay at other times of the year, but not in the winter. It's a bit too quiet and dead at that time of the year, and it's rather dark and cold walking back in the evenings. I have a feeling January might be the same.
