We will be driving from Pienza to Lucca on a Wednesday. We have to return the car in Lucca by 12 noon.
Which route would you take? We have no need for stops or sightseeing along the way. Just want quickest easiest route and it will most likely be raining.

Personally, I use the Waze app for driving. It has more up-to-date traffic info than (owner) Google Maps (which is 2nd choice).
Or you can see which are the scenic roads using www.viamichelin.com or their free app Viamichelin. But their sat-nav guidance is not nearly as good as the former two.
The easiest way is just to catch the Autostrada del Sole at the nearest entrance, Valdichiana. The alternative route via Siena is significantly slower.
