Hi!
I have the Italy guidebook, and I do not see a mention of Sicily in there (unless I missed something). Does anyone know which book, paperback or electronic, covers Sicily?
Thanks in advance,
Sharon

None so far. Try Lonely Planet.
Rick's guidebooks do not cover Sicily. For the RS Sicily tour I took in June, the office sent us the Lonely Planet Sicily book.
Sharon,
Check Frommer's Italy 2015 guidebook as it has 40+ pages of travel info on Sicily.
Thank you all for the information!!!

Here is a site I used to do my planning for Sicily.
There are hundreds of links in this site to just about everything you want to know about Sicily.
I personally like the Michelin Green Guides, their Sicily book is 400+ pages on just Sicily - pretty thorough.
Sharon, I found the DK Eyewitness Travel book on Sicily to be quite good too, lots of photos, maps and diagrams. I understand that an RS Sicily book has been drafted and is now in the editing down stage.
Like Larry, I used the DK Eyewitness book. It doesn't have much in the way of "helpful tips" that are so good in the RS books but it does a good job of describing the sights so I was able to plan out my 2-week trip - with a lot of help from the forum folks.
Rough Guides Sicily. I find them excellent guides for the sights and directions, but not much help for accommodation so use in conjunction with Lonely Planet or Frommers.
Has RS ever said why he doesn't do Sicily? It seems like a glaring omission given his professed love for the rest of Italy . . .
Wow, so much helpful info! Thank you all!!

Just got back yesterday having spent the last three weeks in Sicily. We used both the Michelin Guide as well as the Rough Guide and while they were perfectly adequate, let me tell you honestly that I missed RS's opinions and advise. I know that the reason there is not a RS guide to Sicily is that probably not enough Americans travel there to make it financially worthwhile, but (I hope the RS people read this), RS was sorely missed. We spent two days in Rome before heading home (our 4th time there) and it was such a pleasure to use RS's Rome 2014. Having used RS guides on multiple trips to Europe over the last 15 years, I had begun to take them for granted. Not having one for Sicily, disabused me of that attitude. For the benefit of future travelers I hope RS adds Sicily to his Italy guide or comes out with a dedicated guide to an amazing place. It is needed......
As I indicated earlier in this thread, I understand that there is an RS Sicily book in the works. I was told this past May by the person, a native Sicilian guide, who has drafted the book, that the first draft was very, very long, and needed to be trimmed by about half in the editing process. Should be a great and very helpful volume.
If you have a facebook account you can look here: legendofsicily Taormina; Weddingsinsicily, etc. legendofsicily.com actually has more info on the website, while Weddingsinsicily's Facebook page is better.
RS doesn't have one yet. I used Lonely Planet. RS's DVDs do cover Sicily, but it was made a long time ago and I am surprised he covered Segesta but not Agrigento in it.
