Im planning my first trip to europe..thinking Amsterdam (3 days) - Paris (4 days) and then Rome (4 days).. someone recomended me to stop between paris and rome...i have seen venice, florence and cinque terre...wich one will be better for 2 days stay?? thanks
If you are planning on taking the train from Paris to Rome, the Artesia train takes two routes -one two Venice and one to Rome. The run to Rome routes via Dijon, Parma, Bologna, Florence on the way to Rome. The Cinque Terre would be somehwat out of the way. However, the hidden culinary treasure of Bologna could be a possibility. Here's the webiste. http://www.artesia.eu/english/train-travel/destination-travel-italy-france.php
It depends on what you enjoy doing and the time of year that you will be traveling. If you can share that information here, you will probably get more helpful responses. Good luck.
We are trying to go on next spring... exacly what we are looking...have a good time...and enjoy the views..culture... I know venice is a great place but everyone says is toooo expensive...dont know about the other two... wich one we can do the most in 2 days...
thanks for your comments
You will certainly find more to see and do in Florence than in Cinque Terre. Just trying to be helpful - you should spell it 'which', not 'wich'.
The Cinque Terre is lovely in the Springtime. If you like to hike, it can't be beat. The views are incredible and the food is delightful. Florence, on the other hand, has tons of things to keep you busy. The Accademia to see David, the Uffizi Gallery, the Medici Tombs, shopping the outdoor stalls for leather goods, the Mercado Centrale, many churches to visit, the Duomo, I could go on and on. I love both places for different reasons. It just depends on how you want to spend your time. Relaxed or busy? Outdoors or being a tourist? The Cinque Terre is also much more difficult to reach. It will take some planning and extra time to get there. You can't make a bad decision. Oh, I just realized I forgot to even mention Venice. I have been there three times and I am just not a huge fan.
You can't go wrong, in my opinion. For tranportation reasons, Venice or Florence are probably simplest. If I had to pick one of the three to see again, it would be Venice, price and all. You can find affordable places and it's a place you won't ever forget.
If you love art, especially the Renaissance, then go to Florence. If you love the outdoors, go to the Cinque Terre. Venice is a special place, unlike any other city- but based on your itinerary, it would be the most inconvenient for you to visit. From Paris you can also take the overnight Arteisia train to Florence, from where you can also head to the Cinque Terre.
Florence, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, ... then Venice. I echo the ease and amount of things to see, do, and have fun mentioned by others giving Florence the edge over Cinque Terre, which is spectacular but more difficult to get to. I find 2 days of things to do in Tuscany before Venice...I'm just sayin'
Shira, Save yourself some time and money, fly from Paris to Pisa or Paris to Venice look at easy jet...prices to both cities is around $60.00. This includes 1 checked bag. Flight time 1 1/2 hrs
Of the 3 places you named, my recommendation would be Florence. Cinque Terre is beautiful, but you would need more than 2 days to see it all and enjoy the beauty and cuisine. Plus, it's difficult to get a room for such a short time. All of the hotels and B&Bs seem to cater to longer stays of 4 days or more. Venice is always nice, but Florence is my vote.
