Which hostel in Cinque Terre?

Hello, I was originally planning on taking a train from Venice to La Spezia that would get in at 23:29 but now I'm considering the earlier one that will arrive 18:19 after realizing Cinque Terre might be difficult to navigate that late at night. I am stuck between two hostels:
Ostello di Corniglia (pretty good reviews!)
Hostel 5 Terre (in Manarola, gets okay reviews but seems to be the more picturesque location)

Prices are comparable for the two. This is for May. Two 22-year-old females traveling. Any advice you can offer is much appreciated!

collins,

The Ostello 5 Terre in Manarola has been the "official" Cinque Terre Hosel for many years. It's clean and well run, but one point to note is that they have a strict lockout in the afternoons for room cleaning (from 13:00 to 16:00 as I recall). If you don't mind the rules, it would be a good choice. It's at the top of Manarola, so the views are great and there's a good choice of restaurants and small shops there.

The Ostello di Corniglia has only been in operation for a few years, so I don't know much about it (but have heard some good reports). One important factor to consider is that Corniglia is smaller than the other towns, so fewer restaurants and shops. It's also located high on a rock bluff, so you either have to walk up or down a LOT of stairs to reach the rail station, or take the small Shuttle Van. If you're planning to spend most of your time touring around the C.T. and minimal time in the Hostel, it would be a reasonable choice.

I have stayed in Hostel 5 Terre in Manarola (granted it was several years ago) and really enjoyed it. There is a lockout during the day but it didn't bother me since we were always out and about. Have a great trip!
