Which flight from Rome would you rather take returning home?

Prices are all basically the same. Of course I’d like #3, but an hour in Paris might be too iffy.

Rome (8:00 am). ——Paris (2 hr. 50 min) —— Home (4:35 pm)

Rome (10:40 am) —- JFK (4 hrs. 14 min) ——- Home (8:56 pm)

Rome (10:00am) —-Paris (1 hr) —— Home (4:35 pm)

I’d rather get all the way to US than chance either of those way too tight connections

hey hey lulu
Totally agree with Christine, #2. You never know happens, we barely made our connection at CDG coming from amsterdam 2 years ago. Having a great trip, you don’t need stress worrying about connecting.

Choice # 3 is not a real choice because it's an impossible connection.

I would pick # 1. I'd rather transit through Paris than JFK. The one upside of JFK is it will give you time to take a break and grab a meal, which is definitely a plus.

I would say 1 and 2 are both OK, but I prefer the greater safety margin in #2. Plus, like Letitia, I don't want to get up that early to make an 8 am flight. It makes for a very loooooong day.

I would take number 2 mainly because I avoid early morning flights like the plague (except my flight in Boston). I'd avoid 3 because CDG is difficult in which to transfer, and likely mostly impossible in such little time. Also, four hours is not a difficult layover, and I like having time in an airport to walk around, get a bite to eat, people watch, etc.

Are all segments with same airline?
That might help with the #1 choice- BUT- we had a flight from Nice thru CDG to EWR. Pretty sure we had a 3 hour connection time- all with Air France. We still barely made the flight from Paris to EWR. After bussing from 1 terminal to the other and going thru passport check etc- I only had time to hit the bathroom and we were one of last to board.

Hi Lulu,
From past stops in CDG and JFK we have experienced 3+ hour delays in passport control in both Paris and JFK. We avoid both airports. Our favorite layover is AMS. That said, if it were me I would suggest your second choice. Best wishes.

I would choose #2, too.
Don't like early AM flights, and even 3 hrs. at CDG would make me nervous.

Ok, #2 it is. I was just hoping to get home earlier, but it might not be so bad. It will be 3 am Italy time, so will be easy to fall asleep.

Why do they even put impossible flights out there anyway, then! It just seems wrong.

I was trying to do just 1 connection. Thanks!

Are all your choices single ticket bookings offered by the airline, or a cobbled plan by a booking site?

Are there any other choices? What is the airport for "Home"?

I too vote for #2 of the 3 you listed. If the first flight is late, I suspect JFK would offer more choice to get "Home" than would be available from Paris.

Lulu, Are you in a hurry to get home? If not, I'd do number three and spend a night or two in Paris. Since I've been retired, I stay over night at my layover locations for fun and ease of transporting my body.

I line in Minnesota.
We got Black Friday deals - $498 RT from Minneapolis through JFK to Rome for late April, returning in May.
We are doing your #2 and are getting home around the same time (7:31 PM)
I am VERY happy to NOT do an 8 AM flight.

We booked #2 today! Thanks all. I’d love to stop over in Paris, buy one son needs to get back to work.
