Which day trip from Venice?

I just about have my September northern Italy itinerary figured out. I have one day at the end of my trip to plan a day trip from Venice. I'm considering Treviso OR Castelfranco Veneto. Which would you choose? I don't know if I have the energy to do both in one day.

Planning note: I visited Padua a couple years ago. And am staying in Verona this trip for three nights with a day trip to Vicenza. This is my fourth trip to Venice for a total of six nights there this trip; two nights at the beginning and four at the end.

Grazie!

I have been to Treviso for the tiramisu and a walk around town. We had a nice time, but I am a sucker for walled-in cities.
So my choice for a day trip would be Castelfranco Veneto.

Thanks Gail. I loved the walled towns on the Village Italy tour a couple years ago.

I can't imagine why you'd want to leave Venice !!!

I haven't been to either of the towns you are considering, nor have I any other suggestions. I just can't figure out why anyone would want to leave Venice ever.

The Veneto's walled cities are impressive, but they are rather static in our era. After seeing the architecture, there's........ In contrast, we spent a day in Treviso two years ago and enjoyed the lively pretty city very much. Lunch was memorable at Trattoria all'Oca Bianca, a century old restaurant with a goose emphasis. Treviso is my vote.

Bassano del Grappa is a nice day trip. Regionale train plods its way there. The bridge by Palladio is special.

Before you leave Venice, have you visited Murano, Burano and the cemetery island of San Michele?

Grazie a tutti! All of your suggestions are great. I'll have to do what I did as a kid at bedtime, close my eyes and point at the map my mom pinned to the wall. Back then it was to find the spot I'd dream about.

Chani You know how much I love Venice, four visits totaling 18 days. I thought it was time to venture out of my cocoon to see the neighborhood.
Mike Thanks for the restaurant info for Treviso, although goose isn't high on my wish list.
Aussie I hadn't heard about Bassano del Grappa. Sounds interesting, especially the bridge.
Lin C I've been to both Murano and Burano and have the outer islands planned for the day before this day trip.
