Going to Italy with older teens in June. Thinking about the itinerary. Rome and head South (Bari and Adriatic coast). Or Rome and head North (Portofino area and Lake Como or Lake Garda). We will be there for 12 days. My husband and I have been to Venice, Rome, Florence, Sienna and Positano. Loved them all but want to add a new area in the trip this time.
Fly into BLQ and immediately go to Ravenna.
Then train to Bari.
Work your way north along the Adriatic coast.
Spend 4 days in Bologna at the end.
Fly out of BLQ.
Add another week.
Or
Fly into MXP or LIN.
Time in Milano. 4+ days
Train to Varenna on Lago Como. 3 days.
Train to Bolgna. 5 days. Side trip to Modena.
Fly out of BLQ.
Change time frame from June to late September. Ignore the school calendar.
Puglia would be my choice.
