Hi everyone. I wanted to know your opinions on which car companies you rely on when you travel to Italy? Lately it seems hard to get a car with europcar. Has anyone used Hertz or the Italian company maggiore ??
Booked my rental for a week (in 10 days) through AutoEurope with full coverage.
Vehicle is actually being rented from EuropeCar, I think the alternative in Chiusi was Hertz.
Note that I actually reserved about 3 months ago, the charges are substantially higher at the "last minute".
We always use AutoEurope.com to book our cars- US based consolidator with stellar customer service and usually best rates
Have ended up with Hertz, Europcar and Avis
You can use their website to check rates and availability
All rental agencies are short of cars this year and prices are super high
Being from Canada and only being able to drive automatic, auto Europe had nothing for me. I was able to get a ok rate through Hertz
For my family and I. But your right, prices are so high and never had troubles renting a car before like this.. has anyone used maggiore?

Since a travel for work and have a Hertz Gold account, we rented from Hertz and had no problems. This was pre-Covid. It's too bad you can't drive a stick (Millennial anti-theft device) since rates for manual transmission cars run less.
Have a great trip!
