Which budget hotel in Rome?

Dear all, We are looking for a budget hotel in central Rome for our family of four. Since we will be there only for two days proximity to historcal points of interest, cleanliness and safety are the most important things. Which hotel do you recommend? Many thx for yr help in advance.

sevket, Could you provide some idea on your price criteria for a "budget Hotel"? Do you have a preference for which part of Rome you want to stay? Finally, have you considered staying in a Hostel. With a family of four, you could book a four-bed Dorm and have the room to yourselves (although that would mean four single beds). One Hostel that I often use charges €35 per bed for a four-bed Dorm. I checked the website for one Hotel that I use in the Termini area, and their rates are €210 for a quad-room in high season. If you could provide some further information, it would help to offer more specific suggestions. Cheers!

Dear Ken, Many thx for yr reply, I refer to less than or equal to 120€/night by budget. It would be great if the location would be walking distance to Coliseum, Roman Forum and other attractions. As I said the most important criteria would be cleanliness, safety and proximity. Again many thx for yr kind help, Sevket

Downtown Accomodation. 15 minutes from the train station, 5 minutes from the Forum. No frills, but nice staff and secure.

sevket, It may be "challenging" to find a Hotel in central Rome for €120 per night for a group of four. The Hotels that I normally use in the area near Termini station charge about the same amount for a single room. Rather than walking to all of the sites, is there a reason you couldn't use the Metro? Although there are only two lines in Rome, that's often the easiest way to get around the city. I've found that walking around Rome can be VERY tiring! You might find some information on Hotels by having a look at the excellent Ron In Rome website. Hopefully some of the others will have some good suggestions for you.

Sevket - We will be staying at Hotel Rosetta near the Colosseum - family of 5 for 180/night. I thought it seemed reasonable and reviews were good. Will be back by 6/6 and can post a report then.

Check out the Hotel Veneto. We stood their 2 years ago and the price was great as well as the location, right off the Via Veneto!
