Which bank sells euros in Seattle? I call and call but...

I only found Wells fargo with a $5.00 fee but their hours are limiting. I am calling around to Bank of America but no luck reaching a "human." So frustrating. Any suggestions? We don't want to go empty handed~ I already realize I can buy at the airport.

Monique, I was also worried about not having Euro's in hand before our trip to Italy (which we just returned from this week!). But I found the fee's and rates were not worth the security. It was so easy to get Euros in the airport first thing upon arrival to Italy, and you just stick your ATM card into the Bancomat and out pops Euro's. It is truly the way to go. There is no need to have any on hand before going to Europe.

Your bank should be able to order euros for you. You only need about 100 to get you there so I wouldn't worry too much about the exchange rate. It's not going to be that much different from other companies. Donna

BOA sells them but you may have to have an account. Try AAA. or American Express. I think they sell them.

I bought ours at Chase at a very good rate when we were customers. The euros arrived the next day. Travelex (In Westlake Center) will sell you euros on the spot but they do charge a service fee. In a pinch I have done that. Many say AAA will also sell you euros but I don't know the rate. Their new office at Interbay at least has parking.

Columbia Bank will get you Euro's or any other currency, I have an account there, not sure if its limited to members only, or if they will do it for a fee for non-members. They don't always have the currency on hand, and have to get it from a main office in Tacoma or Seattle, so you may need to ask them one day and then pick it up the next day. There's a Columbia Bank branch in Renton, on SW 7th, just north and east of the 167 I-405 interchange.

I hope all of you folks have gone to "Graffiti Wall > Money/Communication > ATMs: Minimizing Fees" to get the recommendations there.

Matt's and Jason's postings were the most helpful. Thank you. I was so frustrated. I know my bank charges to use another's atms so I wanted to avoid that. To have bus money. Wells fargo had some and I showed up and only a minute before a man bought all of them up. I had never been so flustered today. It would be day's before they would have more. Boo!!! I will call Columbia in Renton that is so helpful! But then it sounds o.k. at worst to show up at airport again and buy some. I see that the rate is 1.37 currently and BOA sells it at 1.46 and a $5.00 service fee~ FYI. But they were out too:(
Thanks for the refresher. I leave Saturday to Milan.

Monique, I'm probably too late since you leave on Saturday, but Thomas Cook Currency Exchange also sells Euros. Probably pricey, but if you would feel better about having some, they are located on Pine Street in Seattle and also 8th Avenue in Bellevue (if they are still there). Have a fun trip!
