I plan to go to Florence, Parma, Bologna, and Cinque Terre. Just wondering which airports to fly in and out of back to JFK. One time I flew out of Genoa to Paris CDG, then JFK, and it was a nightmare so Genoa is not an option!

Florence is really nice (and small)...that means that you will probably have to check you baggage as the planes that fly out don't have large overhead compartments. Please tell us what was the problem with Genoa...again, I thought it was a nice small airport with a good number of connecting flights to various cities.

If you can fly internationally into and out of Pisa (Delta does), I would suggest Pisa. Amerigo Vespucci (Florence) is a small airport and I'm sure that you will have to connect to another international airport in Europe first in order to fly back to JFK.

My problem was not with Genoa, it was at Paris. Our plane load of people were all dropped off by a shuttle bus at the opposite end of the airport. We were told to get off the bus. No one knew were to go, no one was friendly. They literally had to hold our flight because so many people were lost and late getting to the next plane.
